Decision Making Process In Management
Decision making is a process whereby among several alternatives discussed, there is always a final choice that is agreed upon. Planning, controlling and coordination requires decision making and this also applies to management which must make a critical decision on which of the many strategies should be followed. Such decisions are called strategic decisions because they have a long term impact on the organization.
Steps in decision making process
- The first step is identifying the problem, after identifying the problem, as a manager you have to find the route cause of the situation by having all the facts and gathering as much information as you can on the problem.
- In step three make an attempt of coming up with so many alternatives as possible and this stage is a brainstorming stage at the fourth stage the alternatives given are evaluated which starts from narrowing down the points to arrive at one which is best.
- After the decision is made it is the implemented and communication is always important in this stage because its difficult to change some people who are resistant especially if they don’t see the reason for changing.
